Just a quick note to remind everyone that Duke returns after a week off
to play NC State. The Wolfpack Women were the last team to beat Duke in
the ACC, and while they have struggled to a 10-10 record, they've come on
as of late. They were one bad call away from beating UNC and have won
their last 2 league games after an 0-5 start. The offense revolves around
top-notch center Kaayla Chones, but the Pack have started to get
consistent production from a roster that includes 9 new players. Veteran
guards Kendra Bell and Nanna Rivers are being ably assisted by newcomers
Marquetta Dickens (shooting 42% from three) and Keisha Brown (a slashing
athlete), while Alvine Mendeng is helping out Chones on the boards. Throw
in shooting reserve Ashley Key and veteran point Terah James, and you have
a lineup that's starting to produce. With the strong possibility that
Alana Beard may not play, this means that Monique Currie and Iciss Tillis
will need to take over the offense right away. Lastly, Mistie Bass must
bounce back from a disappointing performance against Tennessee, because
Duke needs her against the very tough inside scoring of Chones. 7:00,
Cameron Indoor Stadium--be there!
