It was a weird Monday around college basketball, as first Jim
Calhoun just went off on a reporter for daring to ask a recruiting
question. He later apologized; the reporter said it wasn't
necessary. He should take some lessons from Phil Martelli about how
to erupt without profanity. Nice job, coach! And then Rick
Pitino walks
away for a while, citing excruciating pain. His assistant, Kevin
Willard, will be taking over. He has his own stress issues, having just gotten tagged with a DWI.
In a way, it really underscores the massive pressure this job entails.
All best wishes to Pitino for a speedy recovery. As for Calhoun, he was
right to apologize, and the reporter was exceedingly gracious.
