Stacy Stansell Klein, Engineering '91, was in a car accident over the holidays. She had only minor physical injuries, but her husband Garrett and 4-year-old son Bennett died.
Garrett and Stacey have long been closely involved with the Duke Talent Identification Program, Garrett as an RA and Stacy as a student, instructor, and officer in the TIP alumni association. If you're not familiar with TIP, it is a fantastic program that offers summer school programs and other support to academically gifted kids. Their scholarships help disadvantaged students come to Duke for a few weeks in the summer.
The TIP alumni association has started the Garrett and Bennett Klein TIP Scholarship Fund to help some of these disadvantaged students attend the TIP residential summer program.
If you would like to contribute, please make your donation payable to Duke University TIP and on the memo line write "For the Garrett and Bennett Klein TIP Scholarship Fund." Send to Judy Hammes, Director of Development, 1121 W. Main St., Durham, NC 27701. If you want to charge your donation, please provide Judy with your credit card name, number, expiration date, printed name as on the card, signature and the dollar amount.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Garrett C. Klein Fund at Vanderbilt University, c/o Gift Records Office, VU Station B 357727, 2301 Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN 37235. An undergraduate scholarship will be set up in his name.
