For the rest of this season, Wynter Whitley has decided to become a student assistant coach. She noted that she lost her
passion for playing with her injuries and personal tragedies over the last
couple of years, but hopes to return next year. Wynter is one of my
favorite people to ever play at Duke and was a big reason why the 2002
team went to the Final Four. Her hard-nosed on-court demeanor belies her
sunny personality, and so we will all be rooting for her to come back next
year. The team will be much younger next year and in need of leadership,
and this is something she will be able to provide.
