You'd think after everything that's been said and done, that baseball would
have found a way to assist the former Negro League players who are still
alive. You'd
be wrong. Many of them are elderly and in real need of help.
Perhaps the biggest insult is that they get no cut of the revenues from retro
jerseys.
It's time for baseball to step up and help these guys. Just incorporate
them into the pension system, and give them enough money to ease their
suffering. They suffered as young men for baseball's and society's
injustice. Making them suffer again as old men is just cruel. Please
consider calling your elected representatives and MLB and let's put some
pressure on them to help these guys.
