Despite the lawsuit, expansion is all but certain and the formal invitations may go out Monday. Apparently Miami President Donna Shalala is negotiating a couple of issues, including allowing Miami to pay their entry fee in installments, wants to join in 2004, rather than 2005, and wants FSU in the other division.
The lawsuit remains an issue, but most of the legal people we've heard from don't think it's a serious hurdle. More importantly, it also suggests that the Big East schools have given up trying to persuade Miami - well, bribe Miami then - and are reduced to threats. We'll see what happens from here, but basically, it's over.
