Gregg Doyel, who has done a tremendous job covering the ACC expansion story,
has a new piece up about where things stand, suggesting that FSU's threat to
bolt the conference spurred expansion in the first place. Now, Duke, UNC,
and UVa are resisting the move to 12, and in a second conference, Swofford could
not get the seven votes he needs to move forward. It could be of course
that he'll never get 7 votes, or it could be that each school is playing
hardball and holding out for something they want out of the deal. Time
will tell, we guess.
The FSU thing had been rumored for some time - we think we remember seeing it
in the Poop Sheet a while back - but this is the first time we've seen it come
up in the papers.
