We listened to part of the DePaul UNC NIT game on the radio, and Mick Mixon interviewed a South Carolina sportswriter about the Clemson job, and the writer said that he had mentioned Phil Ford for the position. Now there's an interesting idea, and probably good for both parties.
Maryland's Dave Dickerson has gotten some attention now and confessed some interest, but Ford to us is much more interesting. He has a definite body of knowledge, is an established recruiter, and has long been considered a head coach in waiting. All that was derailed by his alcoholism, of course, and hiring him to some extent would be a gamble, but for Clemson, it's not a bad gamble considering the potential payoff.
