The Winston-Salem Journal has a series of articles previewing the incoming class at ACC schools. Perhaps the most interesting thing is Herb Sendek's assertion that a member or members of the media tried to influence a recruit. We're totally guessing, and it's a whodunit of course, but the two recruits who most likely seem to be at issue would be John Gilchrist, who went to Maryland, and Shavlik Randolph, who will of course be at Duke.
We know most of the Duke beat writers at least somewhat (Luciana Chavez of the N&O is the major exception), and we don't think any of them would do something like this. We don't know the Maryland writers at all. We have heard one State writer very much dislikes Herb Sendek, to the point of cursing him from press row, but we haven't heard anything to tie him to this. Most interesting.
