Last night saw Florida visit Florida State, where the Seminoles played a much better game than in recent years against their rival, before falling, 58-57.
The big game this weekend, though, is Kentucky's visit to Chapel Hill. Kentucky and North Carolina are the top two in all-time wins. UNC looks like they're coming back from last season's 8-20 record, but there's still some unease up in Lexington with the current Wildcat team. The only team to beat Kentucky this year was Virginia. Meanwhile, it looks like a dynasty in Chapel Hill is over, with the women's team losing in the NCAA semifinals to the defending NCAA Champions, Santa Clara.
Maryland also has both soccer and basketball on their mind. The men's basketball team faces Notre Dame, coached by former Duke assistant Mike Brey, in the first round of the BB&T Classic (Who decided this was a "classic?") at the MCI Center. If they win, the likely second round opponent is #2 Texas. Meanwhile, their top-ranked men's soccer team is playing #9 Connecticut for a berth in the Final Four for soccer. Maryland last reached the semifinals in 1998, and last won a shared NCAA soccer title in 1968.
