There were four games in the ACC yesterday, so lets start with the cupcake, first.
NC State managed to squeeze out a 104-65 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson. It will get tougher for the Pack, believe me.
In the second ACC-New Jersey matchup, Todd Billet had a dream homecoming, scoring 22, and with the score tied and 13.8 seconds remaining, hit the game winning free throws. It's hard to find a more story-book ending, as the taunts went on for three hours. Oh, the final was 61-57.
The other state to get a pair of ACC opponents was New York; Wake Forest handed St. John's their first defeat, by 12, 84-72. Skip Prosser was impressed by the play.
Unfortunately, things did not go well for Paul Hewitt, as Syracuse handed Tech their heads. Despite trailing early, Syracuse scored 58 in the first half, including a 17-0 run to seize control. The Carmelo Anthony vs Chris Bosh matchup was the anticipated matchup, but Syracuse freshman was the real story. Oh, the final was 92-65.
There are two ACC games today, first, Clemson faces Cincinnati in Anderson. Clemson's fans are probably more interested in tomorrow's Tangerine Bowl matchup against Texas Tech.
The big game is the ACC Season Opener, when North Carolina visits Florida State on Fox tonight at 8PM. It will be the first ACC game for Carolina's freshmen. more
