football team is Virginia, a team which has adjusted perhaps somewhat slowly
to new coach Al Groh. Can Duke pull off the upset? We're hoping so.
But Virginia is about a 17 point favorite.

has had difficult days, too, and like Northwestern, came through eventually.
An academically challenging school can make it in football. There's just too
much evidence otherwise.
We would be remiss if we didn't mention the UNC-State game, which suddenly
takes on huge overtones after the UNC upset of FSU last weekend. FSU
meanwhile promises to kill Wake Forest, but that may not be as easy as it used
to be, and they saw the UNC game too. That game likely gave a lot of
people hope, and if FSU doesn't kill Wake, it could change things a lot.
