In a follow-up to the recent Knight Commissions report warnings regarding the influence of commercialization on academic institutions, the Chronicle offers an overview of the history of Duke's relationship with Nike and opinions about it by Coach K, Joe Alleva, and Nan Keohane. It's always been a controversial subject, and no doubt the debate will continue for a long time to come as colleges look for alternative ways to fund athletic expenses just as corporations look to jump into that funding crunch as an effective marketing tool.
