Finally sporting a full 8-woman roster, Duke held on against the
Brisbane Capitals by a score of
76-72. Despite the win, Duke was much sloppier than its
previous game, committing 28 turnovers and nearly blowing a 12-point
lead. Coach G's quote says it best: "I think when you spend the
day at SeaWorld it is hard to really get focused."
Alana Beard's numbers were awesome, quite frankly. 26 points (17 in
the second half), 8 boards, 4 assists, 5 steals and a block. Sheana
Mosch kept up her very solid play with 13 points. Rometra Craig picked
up her game with 13 points and Iciss Tillis had an impressive 13 rebounds
to go along with 7 points. Crystal White had 8 points to continue a
good showing in Oz. Duke again had trouble from beyond the arc, shooting
just 2-7.
Krista Gingrich is still in a bit of pain, but to her credit she made
it out to the court and had 3 points and a couple of assists. Duke was
in a lot of foul trouble for much of the game; Coach G has been unhappy
with the refereeing style in Australia in every game.
Duke wraps up the tour tomorrow with a game against the Sydney
Panthers.
