Duke was much sharper today against the Australian Institute of Sport,
but fell by a score of
75-71. Early foul trouble for Iciss Tillis and Michele
Matyasovsky meant that Alana Beard had to play in the post a lot, and she
was once again worn down a bit. Of course, this means that she "only"
scored 18 points. The leading scorer was Sheana Mosch, who went for 22.
It's good to hear that she picked up the scoring slack when Alana was
needed in other areas.
Rometra Craig also picked up her play a bit by adding 10 points. No
one else for Duke was in double-figures. Krista Gingrich continued to
sit out due to injury. The Devils had only 12 turnovers and shot a bit
better from the (extended) three point line at 4-15, but there's still a
lot of improvement that can be made there. Duke plays again on Friday and
Saturday before concluding their tour.
