Sad News From The World Of Literature

Eudora Welty has died, according to the Washington Post. She was one of a kind and a writer of rare gifts. Like Peter Taylor, she was called a Southern writer, which is true, but like Taylor, she has as much in common with Chekhov as she does with Faulkner or O'Connor. Her gift was profound, as is her loss.
