Barry Jacobs has a great article up on Matt
Doherty and his transition at UNC, which hasn't gone as smoothly as one
might think. Apparently dumping the previous assistants caused some very hard
feelings in the basketball offices, which would explain his recent comments
about a period of mourning and a period of healing at both Notre Dame and UNC.
The immediately obvious change in how he approaches things is in recruiting.
UNC sold itself for decades - to Doherty among others - but other schools and
coaches have in many respects caught up. Doherty is being fairly aggressive
about addressing that.
