In the least-valued secret of the recruting season, Jawad Williams has turned
his back on Maryland and picked UNC. He is expected to officially announce
sometime today but certainly this weekend.
He had been very close to committing to Maryland earlier this summer. A
few seasons back, under intense criticism for poor recruiting and for not
involving himself in recruiting enough, Gary Williams fired his head recruiter
and brought in Dave Dickerson. Dickerson has done a tremendous job, but J.
Williams said tha the had more contact with Doherty than with G. Williams, so
perhaps the old criticism is still valid.
