According to Mike Sullivan, Quentin Richardson is about to confirm what
everyone has expected and
announce for the NBA. As is the case with virtually every college
player who goes out early, he's not ready, certainly not skill-wise, but more
importantly, he's not man enough for the job yet. That's not a knock on
Richardson. He's not shown any particular signs of immaturity. But when he
goes toe to toe with Scottie Pippen one night, then Latrell Sprewell the next,
and then even a guy like Vinnie Del Negro - he's just a kid playing a man's
game. The money is good, but the only guy we can think of who was
definitely mature enough to leave early, had he chosen to, was Tim Duncan.
