In a highly unusual action, not least of all for the timing, Toronto Raptors
coach Butch Carter, who recently penned a book which in part went after former
coach Bob Knight in a big way, has
filed a defamation suit against Marcus Camby, who used to play for Toronto
before being traded to New York. Camby called Carter a liar.
This on the eve of a playoff battle between New York and Toronto.
This opens up a whole new potentially lucrative avenue for attorneys, of
course, since athletes traditionally say some outrageous things (Barkley, Reggie
Jackson, et. al).
One minor point we were wondering with regards to Carter: who hired him at Toronto? Was it former teammate Glen Grunwald?Â
