Mike Montgomery has a piece on ESPN about
how to beat UNC, but if he's so smart, why didn't it work for him? He also
has a plan for beating Florida. Both plans come down to tempo. He makes the
observation that to beat UNC you have to disengage Ed Cota. A better
question is how Florida defends UNC down low with a significant size
disadvantage. If the ball gets in to Haywood, Lang, and Peppers, and if
Florida gets into foul trouble, it's over.
There's an excellent chance that after the game, Florida, like several other
teams in the tournament, will say "we just didn't shoot like we normally
do" against UNC, as if UNC's defense was not a factor.
