A Chicagoland What-if

Rick Telander has a what-if column up on the Chicago Sun-Times about when
Tommy Amaker badly
wanted the job at Northwestern, but was passed over.
Since then, he
has begun to prove his case at Seton Hall.

Northwestern, of course, chose Kevin O' Neill, formerly an assistant at
Arizona and later head man at Marquette and Tennessee. Our memory of O' Neill
comes from Raw Recruits, where he and another Arizona assistant put the
squeeze on Sean Rooks. It wasn't a particularly pleasant passage, and what stood
out to us was that O' Neill took a lot of pride in having essentially
manipulated the kid into choosing Arizona.
