Landreth On UNC

Eddie Landreth has a sharp column up on the
goings-on in Chapel Hill,
where, as we pointed out the other day, there has
been a lot of turnover in the Baddour era: three basketball coaches, three
football coaches. Landreth points out that where stability used to be the
signature of UNC athletics, now it could be argued it is change.

He also says this: "But through the years, the combination of success and stability created a false sense of security among many Carolina fans. Their arrogance was rooted in the belief that it would always be thus, as if UNC had somehow been ordained to win."

A reader put it a different way during UNC's struggles last season on the
court: humility can't be learned in a book.
