Well now here's a weird little deal from the LA Times involving Steve Lavin
and LA Dodgers manager Kevin Malone, who invited Lavin to the World
Series. Apparently Malone thought he was dialing Pat Barrett, a local
coach (we're presuming AAU), and said this: "Why is that big Sampson going to Cal? How come you didn't steer him to UCLA? We needed him and you blew it for us."
Unfortunately....he hit the wrong number and the
message went to Sampson's house instead. Oooops....
