Now that things are heating back up, it's time to bring back the ACC
Roundup. To kick it off, here's a quick survey of the day's happenings,
starting with
the Triangle schedule of exhibition games.
Wake
played the Global Sports All-Stars last night, and Craig Dawson hit for 35 -
not bad! Unfortunately, Wake's injury wave continued, and this time Darius
Songaila went down with a bad ankle. No word yet on how bad that is. Up in
College Park, the
Terps cruised by the London Leopards by 110-77. They mostly survived
although Danny Miller took a cheap shot which infuriated Gary Williams. Chris
Wilcox continues to impress. The Leopards are coached by Bob Donewald Jr.,
who we're assuming is the son of the former Illinois State coach.
In one ACC alum note, Jeff Jones
is settling in at his new job at American and says he doesn't mind playing
in obscurity. That's ridiculous. He wants back in the big time, just like
anyone would.
And in one other, Bobby
Cremins is getting used to life as an ex-head coach. He's gotten a knee
fixed and has been golfing like a maniac, planning to spend the basketball
season at Hilton Head. Paul Hewitt says, and this is no surprise at all,
that Cremins has been an immense help to him and calls him a "good
man." We'll miss Bobby this year, but four months of golf sounds like
it could be fun, and maybe a year off will recharge him and he'll be back
somewhere soon.
