Duke is going
back to Hawaii next season! Also included in the field for the Maui
Invitational is Ball State, always dangerous, Chaminade, the host, Houston,
Kansas, Seton Hall, South Carolina, and UCLA.
This brings up the prospects of a) playing Tommy Amaker and Seton Hall when
they are going to be damn good, and b) the very rare opportunity to stick it
South Carolina. Kids today don't understand the passions South Carolina
created when it left the ACC under Frank McGuire, with the idiotic idea that
they could somehow be better off as an independent. They spent about 20 years
trying to get back in again before the SEC took them, and the fun of sneering at
their pleading to rejoin was tremendous. It's hard to understate the raw
hatred that they created among the other ACC schools.
