Last year's last two teams standing, Michigan State and Florida, are lining
up to go again. Like Duke in 92, MSU
is embracing the challenge of repeating. And like Duke and everyone
else, they'll find that getting to the top is easier than staying there. The
demands, the attention, the inevitable changes in chemistry, the psychological
difficulty of attacking while reigning, all this weighs on a team. On the
other hand, though, Izzo is the coach who most reminds us of Krzyzewski.
Florida
has some big holes to fill also, with Mike Miller and Donnell Harvey
foolishly leaving before they are prepared for the NBA. Both will have to
do some excellent coaching to get back.
