The NCAA is meeting now in San Diego to deal
with summer basketball and recruiting. Roy Kramer of the SEC made a
strong plea for serious action. The NCAA, being a slow organization,
will likely continue to move slow, but then again maybe they'll surprise
us. Cedric Dempsey has taken the radical step of offering
pamphlets on gambling to every NCAA athlete. They'd better do something.
This whole business threatens
to get very nasty.
