In Skokie, Byrdsong's family
was making funeral
arrangements. In one of the
most poignant scenes of the
day, Ricky Byrdsong Jr., the
little boy who had witnessed
his father's fatal shooting,
emerged from the grieving
family's home and walked
down the block to the grassy
scene of the shooting. With
neighborhood children
flanking him at the edge of
the yellow police tape, the
boy quietly wept.
