This might be just PR stuff - and given how often press releases are
contradicted or later ignored, you'd be wise to be skeptical - but Miami's
president has
issued a statement saying that they were happy with the Big East. He
does say that no one offered them, but given the restraints of the form, he
could hardly say "yeah, the ACC we'd have to consider if they actually HAD
offered."
Anyway, one mindless expansion idea shot down for now. As an example of
why it's dumb, in the Big 10/1, Indiana and Iowa are only playing once this
basketball season. Now come on. That's an ancient rivalry. It must really
hurt to only play once a year. Can you imagine only playing Maryland or
Clemson once a year? That would really stink.
