Jeff Jones has
commented on the NCAA sanctions and says he's relieved it's over and that no
one did anything intentionally. Excuse us for being cynical, but if no one did
anything intentionally, how did Melvin Whitaker end up with 14,000 dollars worth
of benefits?
According
to the Post, Jeff Jones made arrangements with a booster for the apartment
Whitaker had while he was living in Charlottesville, but not in school. The
booster transportation, occasional meals, long-distance telephone usage
and cash totaling $50 to $100,...provided transportation, occasional meals, long-distance telephone usage and cash totaling $50 to
$100."
Another booster covered "legal expenses, transportation, lodging, meals, spending money and other benefits totaling approximately $14,000."
It's not like he found that kind of money in the cracks of the sofa.
14,000 dollars didn't find their way to Melvin Whitaker on their own.
Here, money money money!
