Our pals at Fox Sports sent us
the link for their ACC-SEC comparison (which conference is better,
etc). You know what side we'll come down on. They make it even easier by
a) suggesting that obnoxious Duke fans would get their butts kicked, "no
questions asked," if they stepped foot into Bud Walton arena, and b)
that the ACC is filled with nerds.
Fair enough and ok by us. Nerds usually end up running things, and part of
the reason for going to schools like Duke, Wake, UVa or Tech is so that you
don't have to end up in places like Arkansas, where, surprise, nerds end
up running things.
Anyway, it's entertaining, and both sides rip the other, so it's
lighthearted.
In a related note, here's the ACC teams we know of who have made the Final
Four and the years where we remember them
- Duke (63, 64, 66, 78, 86, 88,89,90,91,92,94,99)
- UNC (57, 67, 68,69, 77, 83, 91, 93, 95, 97, 98)
- NCSU (74, 83)
- UVa (84?)
- Georgia Tech (90)
- Wake Forest (61, 62?)
- FSU (1972, pre-ACC)
Everyone but Clemson and Maryland.
We don't know the SEC, so maybe someone can help us out on this list...
- Kentucky
- LSU
- Arkansas
- Mississippi State
- Georgia
- Florida
We're pretty sure Auburn, Vandy, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee have
never made it, but we don't follow them closely enough to be sure.
