We were pleased to see ESPN do a segment on the internet and college
recruiting. They talked to Quin Snyder, Quotin' Bob Gibbons, Roy Williams and
Gary Williams.
The most interesting point was Roy Williams discussing how he almost lost a
recruit due to internet gossip, and Gary Williams saying he had, in fact, lost a
recruit that way. It was somewhat ironic, given articles, both here and
elsewhere, which suggested that the Maryland basketball program didn't mind
manipulating the print media to their own ends, but oh well.
They were probably in the can before the Omar Cook postings came out (Omar
apparently came on line to discuss internet postings about him, primarily by UNC
fans). We remind our fellow Duke fans - people read this stuff. Please be good
ambassadors.
