In the various readers' responses to the column there is mention made of Elton Brand's criticism of the university and its students. Is this true? If so, I had no idea that he felt that way. I was always of the opinion that he left because he was ready for the NBA, with the blessing of Coach K who concurred with his decision. Even worst EA Sports competitor 2K will not be making a college game either. I don't know about all of you but I am VERY upset!!!

It sucks that this has to happen the year after we won the NCAA championship and we have numerous great recruits and newcomers to our team. Kinda just ruined a tradition for me. Anyways, I was just wondering if this upset anyone else as much as it did me? Anyone know the reason for this? Before reading this, it had seemed to me that K has been moving away from having as short a bench as he had in the past, but I've ascribed a lot of it to the players on the team. This quote makes me think that maybe he's had a change in his coaching philosophy. I don't know that Ryan Kelly or Andre Dawkins would have appeared in as many games as they did last year if this had been an earlier edition of Duke. He played really tough D against Rubio, Navarro, and Fernandez. He even switched up on a PnR and guarded Marc Gasol for a play (smartly, Marty just fouled him immediately). On offense, Marty took it hard to the hole in the fourth and hit a huge step-back three to tie the game. Ended up with 13 points (second on the team behind Kleiza) and a TON of crunch time minutes. Impressive, impressive game.
