Looks like we moved up to a new version of the board software. What should loyal DBR readers expect (aside from a subtly changed posting interface and a dramatically changed User CP)?

I was trying to search earlier today, and one no longer has to answer correctly a Duke-related question. One simply has to type the string of characters in a field to the right.

The trouble is, I kept getting a message stating that I did not answer the question correctly. HUH? Did I just hit it at a bad time?

On the bright side, it's a little easier to post links within a message.

Would still like some of the emoticons from snrubchat...:o

Looks like an improvement.

Cheers,
Lavabe

Is tagging new? I added some to the thread I started

Tagging is new (I think), and I'm all over it and love it.
Check out your public profile too. There's all kinds of cool stuff. I've already created a gallery with some pictures at Cameron.

Should we expect any announcement from the Mods or have I missed it? I think it would be great to get a rundown of the new features. Great stuff from what I've found so far. Good job!!!

How come I can see "recent visitors" list of someone else's profile, but not my own? Mine just shows the number of visitors.

Yeah, we updated. Only die-hards will notice, though (average post-count in this thread is well over 1,000). I haven't plumbed the depths of the new offering yet. Let me know if you find anything really cool.

sheesh. I haven't noticed a thing different, but then again, I have recurrent trouble with "quote tags.":o But, this post should raise the average a bit...

You're bringing the thread post count average down. ;)

Maybe you hadn't had any visitors since the board software was updated. I'm guessing the feature adds a new DB column that is NULL for all previous visits. I see names for the recent visitors in mine.

Visitor messages are new, aren't they? That's kinda cool -- each user essentially has their own mini-board now.

Here's a list of new features in this version (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=1549690) of the board software.

Nice find! I'm glad 3.7 supports "Reciprocal friendships between users (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1450767#post1450767)"; I was getting so tired of the one-sided friendships. Wait, that's an oxymoron right?

Social Groups are interesting. I created one for the PPB (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/showthread.php?p=148889). For the cool people of the PPB, that is. ;)

Instead of loading images that I have stored on my computer, I'd rather load them by linking to their proper URL. Unfortunately, I think that albums only allow you to upload directly from your computer; they don't allow you to link to the URL of a picture.

Is there any way, while creating/editing albums, to link to the URL of a picture?

Thanks,
Lavabe

Despite being a die hard (1,428 posts), I hadn't noticed until I saw this thread. But I had other things on my mind. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

The rest of us call that 'stalking.' Or, in this case, 'cyber-stalking.'

Nope, the number just went up by 2 since yesterday, and it's still not showing names. OMG WHO IS STALKING ME? :-p

I created one too. I was curious who had football season tickets and whether there was an interest in a DBR tailgate meeting or something before games. So the official "Duke Football Bandwagon (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/group.php?groupid=4)" was created.

Sorry for bringing down the avg post count on the thread :)

I guess it's one of the nameless millions who reads the board but doesn't have a login. Though I couldn't tell you if it's even possible to read a user's profile if you aren't a member.

I think I found a bug in the new code. Check out this poll (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=319). Am I crazy, or should those percentages add up to 100 and not whatever they add up to?

that's a multiple choice poll, so likely it shouldn't add up to a 100

I never did understand the new math. :)

Ahh, I didn't notice that was multiple choice. I'm an idiot.

Before the new board software I could pull up DBR on my home computer and would be automatically logged in. Now, I have to log in every time I pull up the board. But, that doesn't happen at work, I can still pull up the board at work and be logged in.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14. I checked the options sections of tools and everything seems to be in order (mind you I'm not a computer expert) and I'm able to save passwords for other sites and be logged into them when I open them up.

When I do open up DBR and have to log in, I do check the "remember me" box. What else do I need to look into about DBR so that my computer will remember to log me into DBR when I open the page.

Thanks!!!

First, make sure your browser is set to accept cookies - that's how it remembers your username and password.

Then log out (which removes the DBR cookies) and then log back in, making sure to check the remember me option.

Did all of the above and am having the same problems. Any other advice?

Tilly--I don't have a solution for you. I am using the same version of Firefox and it's working fine.

What happens if you use Internet Explorer or Safari?

I really don't have much else to offer from here; the possibilities are myriad.

It's probably not a problem with our board, or it wouldn't work at work, either. It's something local with your home computer and the Firefox installation.

If you want to take this off-line, let me know.

I just created a photo album.

hurleyfor3's pictures (http://www.dukebasketballreport.com/forums/album.php?albumid=10)

These are a few photos from Utah I brought into the office awhile back to share with a cow orker. I'll post more as time permits.
