Anyone have any pets that they named with Duke in mind? I am about to get a beagle and am trying to think about what to name him. Thought about Duke but was looking to see if anyone had been more creative.

I named my cat "Duke." I named my son "Christian."
It's not very creative, but those names signal my love for all things Duke.

my dog is named espn, pronounced like aspen but with the short e sound for the first syllable, some would say that is duke related

Dog's name was Molasses (black Dachshund) but she was TRUE BLUE. When asked if she would rather be a tar heel fan or a dead dog she would roll over with her legs up in the air!

While not Duke related, my cat's name is Genghis.
on a Duke note, I trained him to meow every time I say "go Duke!" during the games.

I personally think "Hurley" would be a great dog's name. Especially if that dog were a tough, feisty protective not-so-big dog. You know, like a beagle!
On a side-note, "Hurley" also is very easily heard/yelled -- good syllables without hard endings, that carry. So, when he's run away, you can shout out HURRRRRR-LLLEEEEEEEEE.... It carries much further than "Duke". :D

I believe I read that one of the owners of this site had 2 dogs named Free Throw and Rebound. :) No word on whether he was serious or not.

Our tan Dachshund is named Duke. Not too original, but I really enjoy calling him in front of my tarhell relatives.

(One of) mine, too.
Agreed about Hurley being a good dog's name.

I have an Iguana named Hurley.
He's small (relatively speaking), but tough as nails. Just like legend himself.

Dahntay, much like his namesake, is a total badass. He's also a football fan.

Christian, on the other hand, is kind of a pansy...

Our neighbor has a dog named Hurley. He's not small, but he is feisty.
We used to have a parakeet named Spanarkel.
Our current dog's father was named Crazy for You after the Madonna song, so of course we named our dog Crazy for Cameron, a.k.a. Dunkin.' We thought about nicknaming him Wojo, but his build is wrong.
