Just to let everyone know my wife and I recently found out that she is pregnant and I am going to be a first-time-dad. So there will soon be another Cameron Crazie roaming the earth. I promise to lead him/her to cheer for Duke and will never let him/her stray down the dark road that leads eight miles down the road. :D
P.S. Oct. 25 is the due date - Just in time for next season!!!

The funny thing is that I saw the thread on baby names before and told my wife about someone naming their son Redick as a first name and she actually likes that. We haven't officially agreed on that yet and don't know if it is even a boy, but that would be pretty cool.
Any other suggestions besides the obvious one of Cameron???

Add one more Duke fan. Same due date - Oct 25. :)
We actually found out on February 12, but figured we'd wait a while before telling people. We just heard the heartbeat yesterday with a Doppler. Cool stuff.
Maybe we should have a bet going on whether Mrs. CMS2478 or Mrs. hc5duke delivers first ;)

My daughter and son-in-law (both Duke '01) are expecting mid-June. They just ordered a "onesie" (...if you're a parent you know that that is). DUKE GRAD 2030.
More CamCrazies on the way..... prolific "buggers" (....I was going to say procreators...but I thought I might get censored) that we are.

As a proud owner of an adult size onesie, I advocate that they should be liberated from the clutches of children. Every grown-up should know the warmth and comfort of a onesie on a winter day.
Actually, it was a gag gift from my mom and sister a few Christmases ago. I'm pretty sure they were calling me a baby.

more like her little toe. Even her brothers are already whipped. You should see them, "Mommy, when's my baby sister coming?" "Mommy, I love my baby sister" "Mommy, I'm mad at you and Daddy and my brother. I only want my baby sister. The rest of you can go away!" Ah, a child's love.

Bjornolf: Good luck with everything tomorrow.
My daughter had me wrapped around her pinky when during the public portion of my doctoral defense, my pregnant wife suddenly felt her first kick. As I saw my wife move and look, I could tell what had just happened. Now I don't know if my daughter appreciates polyspecific associations in primates, but I do know that she heard my explanation. Perhaps the kick was her dissent. Beats me, but she's had me wrapped since day minus 95.
I hope your daughter brings you as much joy.

Our ultrasound on monday is a screening one..the following one (in may) will be a little more exciting as we'll probably find out the gender at that point. Since we've been known to exchange xmas presents in the first week of December, waiting to find out until the actual delivery was immediately off the table..should be an exciting October on this board...

Dude, congratulations!!! Being a dad is one of the greatest things I've ever experienced, and as much as everyone will tell you, it definitely DOES change your life, your way of thinking, just everything. I got a lot closer to my parents after having my daughter because of the newfound respect I had immediately for them.
And your child can be a freshman when my girl Bri is a junior at Duke, they will be classmates :D Im having to fight with my wife over her being a UK fan, but Im winning the battle, she now loves everything with Duke on it :) Congrats again!

Excellent! Our little boy will be a sophomore that year, I believe... he was born in August 2007. Any other takers for the Children of DBR Addicts Society?
Another friend of mine from Duke just found out that she's pregnant and due in September, so the class of 2030 will certainly be loaded.

My daughter Alex and son-in-law Kent are IMPATIENTLY waiting to meet their daughter in the flesh. (...and me too, as a firsttime Gamma).
Since this thread has moved onto baby names, I thought I'd share that our 'family addition' is Greta Mei. Greta - a tribute to our Norwegian heritage, and Mei (pronounced May) to Kent's Chinese heritage. If this girl doesn't go to Duke, she will be in serious trouble.
For years they thought they'd name their first child Cameron (either boy or girl), but since we already have two Camerons in the family, that name unfortunately got deleted from the list.

Visit the Duke University Stores, on-line or in person if you're nearby. The Duck Shop may have some rich blue colors, too, if they're still in business.

Mazel Tov to you both, BB & HC! Holden and Alex look like they're well on their way to growing up to be fine, strong, handsome men. :)
Blubear, I don't think the Duck Shop has a web site these days, but when I worked there, we'd get calls all the time from out-of-staters to buy and have stuff shipped. I'm sure they'd be happy to do the same these days - I was in there last weekend, and they had baby shirts & onesies, little socks (pink w/ Duke embroidered, and Duke blue), and iirc, baby caps.

hc -- Yes I know from long experience that a great dog will watch the kid, and the kid will keep the pup in line. An experience for both which will rival none other. Blessings to you.
And to ALL OF US who are bringing children and grandchildren into the Duke family. Soooooo cool.
As two Duke parents, and as grandma who is a sports fanatic, we're trying hard not to 'push too hard' to create a backlash. But...since Greta is only 4 months old, those concerns might be premature.
My daughter (class of 01) only states that she will be upset if Greta doesn't go to Duke, but....Greta will in NO WAY go to UNC or MD. Since my niece graduated from VA Tech, and my nephew currently goes to GATech -- I try to stay as neutral as I can -- as long as the ACC rises to the top in every sport.
Again, so excited to see more Duke Crazies on the way. YAHOO. Isn't it nice to be part of such a living family who supports this tradition? XXOOXX
