I mentioned in another thread yesterday that I was planning on proposing last night. Well, I thought I'd let everyone know that everything went as planned and she said yes!!!!!!!!! I proposed during the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World (site of many of our initial dates) and she was completely surprised. The future Mrs. Ugadevil has been receiving phone calls and texts messages all day with people wishing us congratulations. People around us were cheering and taking pictures and a good time was had by all. I've got some pictures that I'll probably try and attach to this thread later on. Even though Duke lost to UNC, this is still the best Spring Break ever:D .

Mazel Tov!! will you be getting married at the UGA chapel?
Haha. Seeing as how the waiting list to get in to the chapel is now about two years, I doubt we'll be having it there. However, she is from Athens and her dad is a professor, so somewhere on campus is possibility. My department graduation will be taking place in the chapel.

ahh - fantastic. I attended a wedding on herty field last October. It was about 60 degrees and a perfect setting! As long as East/West does the catering :)

Mazel Tov ... AGAIN!!!
So... what was her reaction to the ring?
Even if you can't get the Chapel, you certainly have a good selection of caterers in Athens.
CHEERS!!!

Huzzah!!
Congrats to you and the future Mrs. UGADevil. Best wishes for a long and successful marriage!
I second Lavabe's question -- what'd she think of the ring? Are all her friends jealous?! :D
Now comes her stressful time -- planning the wedding. A couple suggestions from a recent bride:
1) Determine the budget (and sources of funding) FIRST! Stick to the plan as much as possible for the big stuff (location, food), as the little stuff is hard to budget for, and adds up quickly, particularly at the last minute.
2) For you, the groom-to-be, let her know how much/little you want to be involved in the decision-making, but if there are areas you really feel strongly about, make it clear you want to be involved there.
3) Lastly, respect how much she wants your input on decisions, whether you think it's important or not. She may *really* want to know what your thoughts are on flowers or colors or frosting flavors, some detail you may otherwise find trivial. It never hurts to have an opinion (and if you don't, make sure you fake it to match with hers), just in case you're asked about it. ;)

Thanks for the advice. I'm hoping that I get a lot of say in the Honeymoon:)
I've attached some pictures from the event.

Nice photos, uga. By chance, got a closer one of the ring?
DA's advice is rock solid. Two words that will get you through a lot of the planning are ...
YES DEAR!!

That wasn't quite good enough for me. Wedding preparations were a tight rope -- my wife is pretty indecisive, so she wanted my feedback on every decision. She would bust me for placating her and not contributing to the process if I said "Yes, dear." But on the flip side, I couldn't become emotionally attached to any opinions if they deviated from hers.
In short, I'm thrilled to be through the wedding part and into the married part. :)

CONGRATULATIONS (he shouted). With what beers did you celebrate the occasion:D ? Never forget the 3 most important words your bride-to-be will ALWAYS want to hear(after I love you, of course):
Let's eat out!

Not really an issue for me. :D
If UgaDevil encounters this, perhaps he can umm, ... encourage! his lovely fiancee to use these choices and decisionmaking opportunities as a way to become closer to her mother/MIL/sister/SIL/bridesmaid/any other woman even remotely more interested.

UgaDevil,
Congratulations!
Here's wishing the very best to you and the lucky girl!
A good way to start this new chapter would be a Duke ACC and NCAA Championship, no?
Again, huge congratulations!

Congrats!! This is such an exciting time.
As far as wedding planning goes, to rip off a phrase from an article I read, do not ever be lured into making the mistake of saying that you don't care what napkins are at the table or how many chairs are in the room. You care. You care very much.

That wasn't an option, sadly. No family lives within 800 miles, so it was up to us. Others are probably in an easier situation.

I finally was able to take some pics of the ring. If these aren't very big, I'd be happy to e-mail pictures to anyone who's interested.

Congratulations. I have one word for you, "prenuptial". :D
My second wife and I went to Europe for 17 days two years ago on our honeymoon. My mom (a Georgia native) loves telling everyone she spent her honeymoon in Rome. She always neglects to tell everyone it was Rome Georgia. So I had to one up her and spend a few days in Italy and 6 other countries.

Nice ring, but why are you wearing it and did anyone ever tell you, you have some really feminine hands? LOL! Seriously Congratulations UGA!
