I have an upcoming surgery on the 19th. Looks like I'll be off my feet during March Madness. I'm having surgery to repair torn meniscus, cartilage, and a cyst removal from th eoutside of my knee. I had my other knee scoped about 4 years ago. My questions are these. Can the meniscus I had repaired 4 years ago tear again? What kind of down time am I looking at for this upcoming surgery? I work in a warehouse driveng a forklift and lifting 20- 40 pound boxes. Thanks in advance. Sorry if I am violating any rules.

I have had knee surgery (although a little different than yours) and don't really have any specific advice, since everybody is different, but wanted to wish you well! Knee injuries are the worst.

i can't answer your q about downtime as that will depend on the extent of what is found at surgery and what your surgeon suggests.

as to your other knee, yes, a meniscus can tear again as long as there is remaining meniscus in that knee. you also are at greater risk of osteoarthritis in that knee, also depending on how much meniscus was removed at surgery.
