I know I was really bored to watch Knight Rider, but was that a shot of the clock tower in the premier? What's worse, the scene was supposed to be at Stanford!

I thought the same thing and went back to check. That was a shot of Duke alright.
I thought the show was pretty good, mainly because of the Hasselhoff cameo at the end. Not a whole lot said, but a cool 'passing of the torch' moment.

I enjoyed it too and was really glad the "the Hoff" made an appearance. Was sort of cool when we were told he was the new guy's dad.

Yeah my wife and I also noticed. It was kinda odd, since all the other university shots were clearly somewhere else.
We enjoyed it. It had just the right level of bad acting and cheesiness to take us back to the original.
And if you don't know this, it might totally ruin it for you.... but Val Kilmer is the voice of KITT. Weird huh?

The back story on that is obnoxious. Will Arnett had already recorded all the voice work for KITT before some soulless network exec decided it was offensive to their sponsor to have a Chevy spokesman providing the voice for a Ford.

Wow thanks for the tidbit. I thought I had remembered something about him doing the voice, so I was a bit surprised he wasn't doing it. Now it all makes sense. And it's kinda lame.
Hey are you ever not posting here? When do you sleep?

Did any of you see the Clock Tower when it was covered with fabric to look like a Mickey Mouse watch? As far as I know, the admin never could identify who was responsible, but I know because I hired her as a teacher after she graduated!

Umm, it was done twice by Phi Psi brothers and pledges as a joint pledge task in the spring 1974 to 1976 time frame. Don't know if a girlfriend assisted or not.
I actually told this story yesterday to some folks looking at pictures in the new K Center reception hall before the game.

The time I know about may have been during that period of time.... you know how memory can be sometimes! This young woman was very talented in design and later married one of the assistant basketball coaches at Duke. They relocated so he could become basketball coach at William & Mary. He's now associate athletic director there.

speaking of Knight Rider, is that supposed to be a show, or was it a one-time movie?

How lame...a Ford? I thought KITT was a Pontiac btw.

The original KITT was a Pontiac Trans Am. The new one is a Ford Mustang.

Which speaks to the utter lameness of the new Knight Rider, sight unseen...:D

I wonder why they didn't get Mike Rowe?

I thought it was GM who complained about it. I'm going to check the internets now... I'm bummed I don't get to hear GOB Bluth say "Hello, Michael".
As a Mustang owner, I love that my car's in the show, but it doesn't really fit the show. KITT was supposed to be a futuristic car, whereas the new Mustang is a "retro" car...

Seems to me like GM pulled Will Arnett out of the show, or at the very least he bailed because he didn't like something

There isn't anything comparable from GM unless they were to use a Corvette.

Pontiac G8? Not enough of cool-factor maybe? On the Dodge side, I don't think the Charger or Challenger would have been any better either with the whole retro styling and all. Same goes for the "new" Camaro.

I think you are right, there aren't any really good choices so kind of the Mustang by default.

You mean the new Blue Devil Corvette? THAT would have been very cool!

Sure there is, it would have been a great avenue to publicize the new camaro line.

True but not out on the road yet...maybe that would have worked.

When was this even on? I missed all the advertising for it (I don't really watch commercials).
