Peace Corps

just curious, I always hear stories from people about their experiences in the Air Force, the Army, the Marines, etc...

but has anyone on these boards served in the Peace Corps?

I'd love to hear some stories about where people served and what they did.

Once, on a town trip in Papua New Guinea (getting up at 4 AM, walking through jungle for a couple hours, catching a pickup truck at end of road, two hour trip on dusty roads to town), I met a Peace Corps worker who was actually in the next language group over. He was there to help with their community store, which financed their community development projects - mostly literacy classes. The store had required outside aid funding for years. He worked with them for a year, but I never did hear whether it helped them. That group received over $40,000 a year in grants and aid from Canada, Australia, and some from US AID. The fellow was older, former store manager, from U.S.
