Why does the fecal matter of a Bull get such a bad wrap? How did it become a metaphor for Lying, Stretching or Spinning the Truth, and so forth -especially in business?
If I were a bull, I'd be a bit saddened that my poop has such a negative connotation.

I don't know, I believe that several other animals have had to bear their burden when it somes to sheet. How about horses, chickens, cows, rats, bats, and owls? :)

"...the manure thread..."
Has a nice ring to it. An awful smell - but a nice ring.

Pigs stink more than cattle. I hate riding by pig feedlots - they smell much worse than cattle feedlots.

I dunno, I've been calling things "a load of horse manure" in public instead of using the much preferred term. Sounds better, I don't have to worry about kids being around, and delivers the same meaning, win-win(-win).
This next tangent may belong in the "Little known fact about manure", but in ancient Korea (well, probably like 15th century I think), kids were given unpleasant nicknames, generally fecal in nature (dog crap, bull crap, horse crap, etc). The idea was to ward off evil spirits who apparently were went after kids with nicer sounding names. Makes perfect sense... I can't find any wiki articles about this, but at least this is what I remember reading about when I was little.

I give the Bull a rest and use the term "Horse S--t" when I've heard a story that just doesn't add up.
If anyone owns a horse and has to clean stalls on occasion (like me) the phrase just rolls off the tongue, especially when you have to get out of bed at 6:00 am to do so...
