I trust I'm not the only one familiar with his forty plus year career in music.

Nope. I for one miss Hootenanny and the folk music vogue of the early '60s. Sort of an idealistic interlude that passed on at the same time as President Kennedy, blown away by the Beatles invasion. A lot of those guys, like Stewart, continued to make a contribution with a lower profile.

What do they call us, "old folkies?"

I sure am glad you included "Musician" in your headline. Otherwise, I would have been very very very sad.

That hurts. I love(d) all those guys.

Considering that I have several dozen John Stewart Cds in my collection and know most of them by heart, I am very, very sad.

No confusion with Jon Stewart, DA. This one's the Kingston Trio member, and writer of the Monkees' hit, "Daydream Believer." He also had a pop hit in 1979 with "Gold" (w/Stevie Nicks).

Same, but now that I know the musical John (not Jon) Stewart is a Kingston Trio alum, I'm bummed. Kingston Trio rox!
