Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but I just came across this:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/ncaa/10/28/trinity.lateralapalooza.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

What's with all these D-III schools having the craziest endings ever? (this, the full-court basketball heave, etc.) If they were D-I we would see them on highlight reels for decades.

Edit: I think this video has better quality: http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3083220&categoryId=2564308&n8pe6c=2&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1

That was amazing, but where's the band?

To me, I think the craziest ending I've ever seen -- even beyond the Cal-Stanford Band game or the LSU heave vs. Kentucky -- was an App State-Furman game a few years ago.

App State led most of the game, but Furman scored with just a few seconds left (I think it was 12 seconds ... I might be off a few, but it was definitely well under a minute left) to take a 13-12 lead.

The Furman coach elected to go for two points and his QB threw an out pass that was intercepted and returned 100 yards for a two-point conversion by App State -- giving ASU the 14-13 victory!

Now, that was bizarre.

"I'm sick, Ima throw up..."

"God bless those kids."

I can't hear that without flashing back to one of the greatest movies of all time: "I love him. I love my dead gay son."

Who the hell was #88 for the team in dark uniforms. That kid can run. And the QB isn't half bad either.

The "I done wet my britches" comment right at the end was even better. Way to conform to the stereotype there buddy.

Looks like #88 was Terrence Green, now a Minor Leaguer with the Fort Worth Cats (http://www.fwcats.com/players.cfm?player_id=135).

Did you notice that he was also the kicker? If only his speed had helped him track down the return man on that final kick . . .

I would have onside kicked it again.

It would have taken the other team by surprise, that's for sure!

Oh my God...I hadn't watched the end of the video. I had assumed that, when his team scored to take the lead they had won the game so I stopped watching. Oh my God, I still can't believe how that game ended.

Oh wow, that's the best part. That's the most painful thing I've ever seen.

No doubt. With 4 straight successful onside kicks, why wouldn't you call that play?

<coach> Ok, after 4 straight successful onside kicks, they would be expecting it this time. It would be a trick play by NOT going with an onside kick. But then again, they would be expecting me to run a trick play, so maybe I should go with a non-trick play, and just do an onside kick.. I got it! I'll triple-psych them by actually not doing an onside kick, when they're actually expecting me to double-psych them by kicking on onside kick. *tweet* What? The game's over? What??? We lost??? Oh firetruck!

Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

The OT conclusion of MNF was pretty crazy. More Favre heroics.

And it's great to see Deanna healthy. It's great to see Deanna.

I am not at all ashamed to say that I pull out my DVD of that movie and re-watch it every 3 months or so... and I re-read the book about once every 18 months.

Even better, one of my HD channels ran it recently (it's great that all film is essentially shot in HD), so I grabbed it and gave it 'Do Not Delete' status on my TiVo. HD has killed DVDs for me.
