Anybody see it? Will anybody admit to it?
I didn't get a chance and want to know whether or not to waste my time.
I know it will be awful, but it is like a trainwreck, I just can't look away.

saw 2 minutes of it. hardly enough to have an informed opinion. They made nothing about the fact that they were cavemen living in 21st century. They were in a house, using the fridge, text messaging. Not sure why that is funny.

Perhaps hijinks ensue when they encounter modern humans. "No daughter of mine is going to marry a caveman! [canned laughter] "

they should just have one show that has both the caveman and the bionic woman

I tried to watch it... I made it to 8:02 before I got completely bored and shut it off.

I watched the entire first episode just so I could enjoy the trainwreck. Plus, my wife is out of town and I am not allowed to watch most of the shows I TIVO without her because then she "gets behind." In other words, I was not allowed to watch anything I like so I decided to watch somethign awful.

Wow, it was really terrible!

I think the premise is that Cavemen can do anything regular people can do except they look different. That's about it. There were some small signs of prejudice, but mostly from the cavemen themselves including "the roommate" who thinks dating outside your species is a bad idea. Every single joke was obvious and not funny esxcept for the roommate character who is a total slacker who is in his 5th year of working on his dissertation and is mooching off of everyone-- he was kinda amusing and had a few decent lines. But the main character is horrid.

I am not sure how it is based on the Geico commericals because it has none of the frustration or angst of those commercials (they started out great, but by the time the cavemen were at a party or in therapy with Talia Shire, it was done!).

ABC did not screen the pilot for critics because they know the show is horrible. I predict it lasts maybe half the season before being shelved.

As someone has mentioned, it was like a trainwreck. I knew it would be bad and wanted to see just how bad it really was. Even with low (and I do mean low) expectations, this was easily the worst show I have ever seen. There was no set-up of why or how cavemen were living in the modern world and they were acting just like everyone else. I actually watched most of it (I fast-forwarded a lot of it on my PVR) and am now seriously considering writing to the network and demanding that half-hour of my life back. This show (and I use that term loosely) cannot possibly survive more than 4-6 weeks before it is cancelled.

How can TV execs be so dumb?

Also, is Carpoolers as bad as it looked?

Awful! I agree that it was the worst show I have ever seen. I thought the other day that there is no way it could come close to the commercials because someone else is doing the writing. I'd rather watch the 30 second snippets.

Worse. I actually thought Carpoolers made Cavemen look good.

The entire plot of carpoolers pilot was that one guy's wife (played by Faith Ford) is making money on her side job and making him feel worthless. she buys an expensive toaster and the other guys in the carpool figure the toaster is the root of the relationship problems so they break into their friend's house at night to steal the toaster.

Yes, I am serious.

I think you need to go farther back than that. He should never have left 'Stand By Me.'

Mrs. Mullet: What are we watching?
Mulletman: Well, its something I'm interested in seeing so I can mock a friend... I'm not going to tell you what it is.
Mrs. Mullet: I'm scared...

8:00
Mrs. Mullet: Oh God!

8:03
Mulletman: I don't get it... why is it funny that they are cavemen? They haven't even mentioned it...
Mrs. Mullet: Could the acting be worse?

8:06
Mulletman: I don't think this is going to make it half a season.
Mrs. Mullet: I don't think its going to make it through the first half-hour.

Channel changed.... happiness ensues!

I'm surprised you guys made it past the promos for that thing. Those reeked of unfunniness.

Now the Gecko, if he gets a show, I'd give him a shot.

Where were the cavewomen? Do they have beards?

I'm holding out for Grady the Badger. Now that would have possibilities.

Look at the bright side. All those folks who made potential mid-season replacement series are simply salivating right now.

I wish Cavemen was on Fox so they might --might-- bring back The War At Home. I cannot explain why but I really liked that show.

Really? I used to watch W@H but saw it as a middle-class (less white trash) version of Married... with Children... with a less hot daughter, and no talking dog. I would even rank it below "Unhappily Ever After" in the MwC clone category...

-- added this later --
Also, I'm not a big fan of the soliloquies (or is it monologue?) in The War at Home. Didn't work for Bernie Mac, didn't work for this show.

Jason - why do networks put in shows like this that they know will bomb?

Do they really have that few shows to put on TV? Or do they just want to get a bunch of people that are curious for the first episode for the viewer numbers and then immediately dump it?

They could probably get 10X more viewers by randomly showing some past sports event (like the USC-TX Rose Bowl) or something.

I saw a few of that show because it was either directly before or after The Simpsons. No, it didn't have a nubile Christina Applegate, but I think the mom, Anita Barone has a brassy, Leah Reminisque appeal.

Dude! I totally forgot about "The Tunnel". Seeing the jpg seriously cause me to have flashbacks of my dad in polyester jumpsuits, big wheels & green machines, and low-tech TV remote controls (dad saying "son, get up and change the channel") .

$6 Million Trivia: Andre The Giant (RIP) played Bionic Bigfoot.

Anyway... back to 2007 and Cavemen. Trainwreck? YES!

I watched Cavemen for the sole purpose of being able to say how much it sucked the next day. I have to say ... I didn't hate it. It wasn't great, but the actual dialogue wasn't bad after the gimmick of the characters being cavemen ended after the first 30 seconds. Kind of like a just slightly amusing Entourage minus an Ari-like character in the way its set up.

Carpoolers might be the worst pilot I've ever seen. EVER. My God did that show suck.

After the horror that was Cavemen, I couldn't bring myself to stick it out long enough to watch Carpoolers. Apparently I dodged a bullet there.

^ Yes, you did.

Two other side notes:

1) The new Geico commercial with the E Network-style, Behind the Music-style child star update with the Cabbage Patch Doll is freaking hilarious.

2) If I had to pick one commercial I could watch for 30 minutes, it would be the Sonic Drive Through people.

I like the river-dancing chimps in the Arby's commercial.

I couldn't even bring myself to watch a minute of Caveman. I hate and I mean HATE the commercials. I couldn't even imagine watching watching an entire 1/2 hour. If you have Geico as your insurance carrier, you should dump them just for causing this train wreck!

Finally, someone else who hates the commercials. Kill the caveman. Kill the gecko.

Why don't companies consider the possibility that annoying commercials may actually lose them business? Or do they?
