I voted for Oprah. I don't consider J. K. Rowling to be an entertainer in the sense of a performer. If you separate entertainers and authors and public figures I would select Rowling in the author category.

I also voted for Oprah, as I didn't think that the most recent Potter deals were enough to help JK catch up. Oprah has just built too large of an empire and has too big of an annuity going at this point, taking a slice of multiple other very successful enterprises. What's funny about all her fame is that I pay absolutely no attention to her on a daily basis.

As soon as I saw Ophrah on the list I voted and didn't even read the rest of the list.

Well, I voted for Rowling. I believe I was misled by this article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/2979033.stm) several years ago when she became richer than the Queen. For some reason I had thought the Queen was the richest woman in the world. That just 'taint so, as the article points out she is way down the list. The richest women list is at this link (http://www.ephosting.com/blog/blog_view.php?sky=10%20richest%20women%20in%20the% 20world&entry_id=108&user_id=1).

L'Oreal anyone? Walton family? M&Ms?

So Rowland isn't even close to being the richest.

Wow, the Walton gals occupy slots 2, 3 and 4. Pretty impressive.
