Has anyone here ever lived in Bermuda? Anyone know anyone that has lived there? Anyone here consider themselves to be somewhat of an expert on Bermuda?

I could tell you a good bit about the first couple of decades of English colonial habitation there, but that's it.

Never been there, but read about it and done some (related) tax work involving it. Nice. Expensive. Very British. A little far north for my tastes - it can actually get cool there.
Are you considering relocation? Escaping charges??

Expensive? Really? I'm not thinking of re-locating there but a former co-worker of mine has been offered a position with a PR firm and is wrestling with the decision to move or not move there.
What do you mean by "very British?" The way they talk? Bad food? The way the government is set up?
How much is the dollar worth there?

Seriously, dude. Google. Use it -- its honestly quicker than posting.
edit: unless this is part of your crazy survey or whatever you are doing. I feel like i'm in a message board version of Lost.

The goal here is not efficiency. It is time consumption.

Exactly. The only time I use Google is to find images to post here. Whoops, gotta run. I think I just snapped a strap on my flip flops.

Have never lived in BDA, but have vacationed there annually since 1993. It's a beautiful place with spectacular scenery. When people ask me about buying souvenirs, I reply that the photos I take with my camera are the best souvenirs. Don't know that I'd want to live there; it might be too much of a good thing. Land/property is very expensive, mainly because of its scarcity. A household is permitted only one car, otherwise people get around on scooters, ferries, taxis, or the great bus system. Only problem with the buses is that during high season, they can be loaded with tourists (especially those from cruise ships). I think I'm correct in stating that there's no income tax there....indeed, ordinary items do seem to be more expensive there (e.g. one year, I forgot to pack tennis socks and ended up paying what I thought was a rather inflated price for them in a local store). There always seems to be a lot of debate/disagreement/conflict regarding tourism....as in how to increase it. In just the time we've been going there, BDA seems to be becoming more of a banking/financial center....long-time dept. stores in Hamilton have come down and are being replaced by bank buildings. As to food, I'd think it would be rather high since most of it is imported....I don't shop for groceries there. While BDA isn't a culinary capital, we've had no problems/complaints with food. Food there is not too different from what we eat at home, other than perhaps more emphasis on seafood in BDA. We love to go there, but it's not a bargain vacation.....which leads me to say I've just been giving a tourist's viewpoint. I know nothing about salaries in BDA. It's not a poor country by any means...not that everyone is wealthy; there seems to be a large middle-class and seemingly few poor people. We've never been there in the winter; however, I've been told that winters are fairly mild. On any given day, there doesn't seem to be a big range in hi-lo temps.

We honeymooned there in 1977. Didn't take too much time to see the island, but our hotel room was pretty nice ;)
Live there? Well, one thing it has in common is it is in a Triangle. And it has hurricanes frequently in the neighborhood.
