I have some fictional people who are close to my heart -- and I'm sure I am missing a few with this initial post. But all readers out there, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The following is my off-the-top-of-my-head list:

Dirk Pitt (author Clive Cussler)
Alex Delaware (author Jonathan Kellerman)
Sid Halley (author Dick Francis)
Angelique (author Sergeanne Golon)
James Bond (author Ian Fleming)
Travis McGee (author John MacDonald)
Stephanie Plum (author Janet Evanovich)
Harry Potter (author JK Rowling)

I'm sure there are many more, but I wanted to stop (for now) at a short list.

Can't wait to hear from other bibliophiles. Yeah.....

P.D. James' Adam Dalgliesh is one of my favorite fictional characters. I love how he takes in everything going on around him then figures out who did it. And I love to read about his struggles with finding himself and what he wants out of life.

... my votes go to (in no particular order):

1) Ripley (from Alien, Aliens, etc.) Oh yeah, girl-power! (I mean when was the last time a lady kicked that much a**?);
2) Spenser & Hawk (Robert B. Parker) only his wit is quicker than his fists or gun. And Hawk he's BAMF!;
3) Travis McGee (John D. McDonald)- Ole' Trav- style and smooth with the ladies.

I forgot about these two guys. I loved watching Spenser for Hire. Wish I someone would air reruns.

Did you (or anyone else?) ever watch Gavilan (also starring Robert Urich)?

Never heard of it. Doesn't look like it was a successful program: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083419/.

Shammrog, were you even old enough to have seen it in 1982?

Yeah, but I was 10 or 11. Then hormones kicked in and I started watching Dynasty. For Heather Locklear.

Thanks for clarifying who wanted to see on Dynasty as Joan Collins and Linda Evans crossed my mind. heh heh heh

Heather is wonderful and Linda Evans is just dandy, however, please allow me to cast a vote for one Joan Collins (see Star Trek threads).

The girl has visual moxie, and the same initials as Jesus Christ.

P.S. Disclaimer: In no way is EarlJam comparing Joan Collins and her talents/identity to that of one Jesus Christ. The sharing of the same initials is merely an observation.

Jimmy Chee(Hillerman) Spenser and Hawk

Certainly not the same type of characters, but very interesting to me none the less.

Since people are now listing TV fictional characters, I have to add Magnum PI. He always tried to do the right thing. Ya gotta love that!
