So I was at a wedding the other day, one of the groomsmen, and the time came for the garter belt toss. Well it came near me, and competitiveness as well as cat like reflexes overcame the common sense of backing away and I snatched it out of the air. Well, this oversight could be forgiven...however I looked down only to see that it was a tar heel themed garter belt!!!!!!!!!

My friends are both Carolina grads, and we met at Wake Forest med. I worry about the repercussions in terms of bad mojo in the upcoming year...but I also can't bring myself to get rid of good memory from a good friend's wedding. What to do!

I'm thinking if we lose to carolina this year...I'll mail it back to him :-)

That would have been some kind of a racy wedding, my friend! :o

I suggest you immediately start dating a nice Duke woman who wouldn't dream of wearing a 'hole garter and just toss the offending item onto that fountainy/well thing they have on their little "campus."

And next time, stay near the bar and preserve your strength for dancing instead. Ladies love a guy who can dance.

All in fun I know - but having been put in similar situations, the best thing to do is grimace - and then place proudly along with a picture of Cameron, Coach K, or some other Duke themed thing. Maybe find a Duke garter and display together...

I think the you should have a Duke garter available so whenever they ask about it, you can pull out the Duke garter and let them know that a miracle occurred and the color/logo was corrected to an appropriate shade of blue. This should be done with a smile on your face. They are your friends so I'm sure they would laugh.

While I don't agree with the message and defend the honor of all Duke ladies, I have to say my buddy's zinger in response to my grimace about it being a Carolina themed garter was priceless. "you know it's from Carolina because a Duke one would be a lot bigger."
