We had a thread about this last summer ... I thought some might be interested in an update --

Caster Semenya, the incredible South African runner whose dominance was challenged on the basis of her sex -- was just cleared to compete again .... as a woman:

This controversy started when the 18-year-old (at the time) runner crushed the field by a full two seconds in the 800 meter finals of the world championships in Berlin. The problem is that she looked like a man and sounded like a man -- and ran like a man.

The IAAF investigation took more than 11 months. The final report was apparently vague enough that there are still questions about her sexuality.

Still,. Semenya's earlier times have been ratified and she can resume competition. At just 19 years old, she's going to be a dominant 800 meter runner for years to come

Thanks for the update.

Not sure what to think about this. Good for Caster Semenya, who is a terrific runner. Not so good for those (with a more "normal" gender profile) who compete against her.
